Connect - New Tax Year FAQs

To assist users of Connect in transitioning to the new tax year, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below.

 

a) Why cannot I send an invitation to a new employee to access their Employee Portal that I have set up in BrightPay 2024-25?

 

  • You can only send an invitation to an employee in the BrightPay 2024-25 employer file when the new tax year commences on the 6th of April.

 

b) Do I have to link my employers in BrightPay 2024-25 to Connect again?

  • Yes. When you download BrightPay 2024-25 and if you are signed into Connect in BrightPay 2023-24 you will automatically be signed into Connect in BrightPay 2024-25.

    There is no option to bulk link each employer to Connect as they may have their individual document availability rules or employee access, so you must link each employer to Connect. 

 

c) Employer files are saved in a shared location, and we have 5 users install BrightPay locally on their computer. One user linked the employer files to Connect but the cloud icon on the 4 other users’ computers shows as orange. Why are they not green?

  • Each user will have to link the employer files saved to the shared location from their application of BrightPay 2024-25 installed on their local computer to Connect. Once any changes are made in the employer file on any of the devices the changes will synchronise to Connect.

 

d) When I go to the Reports section in Connect I cannot access the reports for the 2023-24 tax year.

  • If you have linked the employer in BrightPay 2023-24 to Connect you will see this employer data in Connect. Have you linked the employer file in BrightPay 2024-25 also to Connect?
    If you have linked the employer file in BrightPay 2024-25 and are in the reports section in Connect, if you select the Most Recent option there will be an option of 2023-24 once selected then you can run the reports you require for this tax year. 

 

e) I have updated a new employee’s leave in BrightPay 2024-25 but do not see these details in Connect, why?

  • The new tax year commences on the 6th of April and as the employee is in the 2024-25 employer file, the changes for the employee will not be reflected in Connect until the 2024-25 tax year commences. 

 

 

f) The P60s or P11Ds are not showing in Connect for employees.

  • Have you finalised all pay periods for the employees for the tax year in BrightPay? If so, can you please re-open the last payslips in 2023-24 and finalise them again and then synchronise the employer to Connect? You should see the P11d for the employee in Connect under the Documents tab in the Employee's profile.
